Associate/Senior Associate

We are looking for a qualified associate or senior associate to join our litigation team in 2026. The ideal candidate will have proven experience and be resilient, solution-driven, a hard worker and be able to exercise sound judgment.

The work involves all aspects of litigation, including drafting, advisory and appearing. The role will offer the candidate an opportunity to develop litigation and commercial drafting skills, gain exposure to complex litigation and be client-faced.

Eligibility

The candidate should be an admitted attorney with a minimum of 2 years PQE (3 years if a senior associate), have strong legal knowledge and experience and possess the following:

Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects relating to court processes and civil litigation. Public sector experience will be an added advantage.

Excellent communication skills.

The ability to consistently produce high-quality work with a keen focus on attention to detail.

The ability to work in a team and take instructions.

The ability to self-regulate.

The ability to take criticism and feedback well.

Job Description

It is essential that the candidate demonstrates work-place maturity, resilience and the ability to manage client relations, billing processes and practice management in general. This is a demanding but stimulating position which will require working outside of normal office hours, when necessary.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing legal matters from inception to completion, ensuring the delivery of high-quality legal services to clients. Key duties include:

  • Drafting contracts, affidavits and pleadings.

  • Researching law and drafting opinions.

  • Appearing in various forums (court/regulatory/labour)

  • Running matters independently.

  • Contributing to business development initiatives.

  • Assisting with client generation.

Salary

Associates: R30 000 - R40 000
Senior Associates: R40 000 - R50 000
